Your First Consultation: What to Expect

Ms. Menassa
2 min read

We understand that visiting an eye specialist can feel daunting, particularly if you're worried about your vision or considering surgery. At Menassa Vision, we've designed our consultation experience to be as calm, clear, and unhurried as possible.

Your appointment will take place at Spire Liverpool Hospital, a modern, comfortable facility with convenient parking and easy access. When you arrive, our reception team will welcome you and ensure you're settled before your consultation begins.

Ms. Menassa conducts all consultations personally—you won't see a junior doctor or technician and then briefly meet the consultant. From the moment you enter the consultation room, you'll be speaking directly with the surgeon who will be responsible for your care.

The consultation begins with a thorough discussion of your symptoms, concerns, and what you hope to achieve. Ms. Menassa believes in listening carefully before examining, so there's no rush—take your time to explain what's bothering you and ask any questions.

Next comes a comprehensive eye examination using advanced diagnostic equipment. This typically includes vision testing, measurement of eye pressure, detailed examination of the front and back of your eyes, and specific tests relevant to your condition.

For patients considering cataract surgery, additional measurements are taken to assess your suitability for different lens options. For corneal conditions, specialist imaging helps visualise the health of each corneal layer.

After the examination, Ms. Menassa will sit with you to explain her findings in plain language—no jargon. She'll discuss your diagnosis, the available treatment options, and her recommendation for your specific situation. You'll have plenty of time to ask questions.

If surgery is recommended, you'll receive detailed written information to take home, along with Ms. Menassa's direct contact details should any questions arise later. There's never any pressure to make an immediate decision.

Our philosophy is simple: you deserve to understand your condition fully and feel confident in any treatment decisions. That confidence comes from clear communication, honest advice, and knowing you're in safe hands.
